Assessment of Adults

Adults request neuropsychological evaluations for a variety of reasons, most commonly following problems at home, work, or school. They often report not being able to function effectively on a daily basis.

A variety of neurological and mental health problems may impair cognitive functioning such as:

  • ADD
  • Migraines, spinal and other sources of pain
  • Depression, anxiety, panic attacks
  • Traumatic experience, with or without a physical injury
  • Traumatic brain injury (TBI) due to accidents or medical treatments
  • Seizures and epilepsy
  • Stroke or heart disease
  • Multiple sclerosis or other neurological conditions
  • Early dementia due to drug or alcohol addiction, HIV, Parkinson

Such conditions may result in poor attention and concentration, failing memory, and reduced ability to plan, organize, and apply judgment. Difficulties with activities of daily living may occur where the simplest tasks will seem extremely difficult.
