Neurocognitive Rehabilitation

Neurocognitive rehabilitation is an intensive, individualized program based on deficits and strength that were identified during neuropsychological assessment. It is designed to improve memory, attention and concentration. During one-on-one treatment sessions with a neuropsychologist, the patient learns strategies to apply to practical situations at home, school, work, and in the community.

Activities include mental exercises, learning about deficits and strategies to cope with such deficits, and cognitive games. The clinic employs a systematic, structured, and detailed program designed to help patients overcome memory impairment. The program is helpful for adults with mild to moderate memory impairments caused by neurological conditions, including stroke, traumatic brain injury, and brain tumors.

Incorporating mnemonic strategies and written aids, the program introduces a simple, practical way to improve memory. Using the Write-Organize-Picture-Repeat
(WOPR) method, along with a rhyming technique, the program helps recall
information essential to function in daily life.

Strict compliance with homework assignments is essential for successful completion. Caregivers’ participation and support is expected.
